Tracmojo – What, why & where is it going?

By Nick Wilsher, co-founder of tracmojo..

So ..

We have built an app called Tracmojo.

It prompts you to track how you feel about well, anything you want, really. Yes, possibly a bit broad, but the objective has always been to encourage & support the positive changes people want in their own lives.

Why is it needed? We felt that all too often we don’t reflect on our own goals and ambitions enough. Life is hectic & distracting. Social media encourages us to at least appear positive, happy & successful. Reality TV supports an “instant fame” culture. And sometimes this all just makes it a bit hard to step back and consider how we feel about the things that are truly important to us.

But for most of us, leading a “happier” life is about ultimately being accountable to yourself. To take charge of the small, or large, changes that we want. Get support from friends, family for sure. Do it collectively with team or work mates.  But, ultimately be aware and be accountable to yourself.

So Tracmojo is a quick, timely pulse check on how you feel about the stuff important to you, ie. your ‘tracs’. Share any trac with family or friends for support. Create tracs for groups with common objectives.

Why are we doing this? Well, for me, it feels great to be supporting people improving their lives. And it would be kinda great to have created something with a positive impact.

Do people like it ?

Yes, it seems a lot of people really like the concept. They get excited when we tell them about it and certainly initially like the app.

But the app is a bit basic right now. It works, it has some bugs that should be fixed, features that could work more smoothly. It could do with some new features to make it more flexible and engaging. And removing some features that are really just not needed right now.

The other thing we are finding is that users don’t really have stuff in their head that they want to trac!  Or they do, but not the time (or inclination!) to set them up! So we need to make it easy for them to create tracs.

Sponsored Tracs ..

But apart from making us feel all warm & fuzzy, this has got to make some money!

Currently its a free app so that doesn’t help much, although maybe in time there will be volume based or feature based subscription version but that’s a way off yet. Always a free version though.

But, we have identified another opportunity. Sponsored tracs. These are tracs which health & wellness businesses can define for their clients. These tracs appear on their clients Tracmojo app and support them in their objectives between consultations. The sponsoring business also has the option to follow & support their progress which can give a fantastic additional opportunity to support the client.

Its good for the client .. they get prompted to do any suggested activities and record progress, and it’s good for the business in that it builds engagement at the same time as providing an enhanced service.

Our first target market is life coaches, and then maybe other health consultants. I’ve spoken to maybe 100 local consultants and the vast majority have liked the idea. We have now built the first version of a solution to support this. It’s basic, but businesses can manage their own ’sponsored tracs’ and via an invite code, their clients can very simply load them onto their own app.

Again, though consultants are also time challenged. So we have built a solution to give them example tracs, but we need to improve it so that it is again easy & engaging for them to manage & provide those tracs to clients.

Suggested Tracs ..

This sponsored tracs solution has also provided an opportunity to address the earlier mentioned problem of users needing to be told what to trac!

We can now create suggested tracs along with invite codes which are listed on the tracmojo website grouped for example, under say ‘Work/Life Balance’, ‘Health & Fitness’, ‘Positivity’ etc. This means that we can promote these suggested tracs along with invite codes so that users with a couple of clicks can have setup a group of relevant tracs.

Mental Health ..

Supporting mental health sufferers has always been an area that I personally have seen as having great potential for the app. Now with the sponsored trac solution in place we believe we can do that.

Not being experts ourselves though in we want to offer the sponsored trac solution for free to mental health support organisations & charities. They could use it to suggest tracs that sufferers may find useful. They in turn can ask their close network of family & friends to follow and support them via the app. A simple ‘How are you today?’ might be a good place to start.

Obviously this would not provide revenue, but would build the user base and awareness of the app.

And make us feel even better & a little more worthy! 😃

OK so where to from here?

Well, we are fixing up some small bugs and planning some bigger upgrades. Stay tuned for some neat new features to make the app just more engaging and fun to use.

Right now though it’s a marketing focus. We need to build awareness of the app and see where we get some traction. We are about to commence social media campaigns around both the suggested tracs and the sponsored trac solutions for psychologists.

And I truly believe we have a product we can build a brand around. Simplicity. Fun. Positivity.

Will it get there? Well, they say with belief & passion & absolute determination anything is possible. What I have learnt on this journey is incredible. And the biggest learning is that there is still much more to learn.

We move on, be prepared to apply the learnings. Test, learn, apply. Make it happen. Be accountable. Its what it’s all about.
